Oral Graded Challenge (OGC)

Preparation

Dissolve one 300 mg soluble Aspirin tablet into 30 mL of water to achieve a concentration of 10 mg/mL. Use this solution for the initial steps or use fractional tablets.

Interval: 60–90 minutes between steps as per clinical orders.


Notes

  • Aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD) requires cautious challenge protocols.
  • Monitor for asthma, rhinitis, or urticaria/angioedema during the challenge.
  • If the patient is on a leukotriene antagonist (e.g., Montelukast), this should be noted as it may mask respiratory symptoms.
